Jerry Brown relocated to The Villages from Trumbull, Connecticut. Jerry and Glenna are the proud parents of 4 children, 3 daughters and 1 son. They also have 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Jerry attended Morgan State University; majored in Mathematics; and became an Army 2nd Lieutenant through their ROTC program. Jerry worked for Johnson & Johnson in the sales organizations of Baby Products and Disposable Diapers where he was a Regional Manager in the Baby Products from 1972-1980. In 1980, he began with Unilever as a Regional Manager responsible for their business in the central portion of the US. In 1987 he became the National Sales Manager for Unilever’s Prince Matchabelli’s Division. From 1991 to 2011 as Unilever consolidated companies he had numerous assignments ending his career as the VP of Industry and Customer Development for all Unilever’s US consumer businesses. Jerry even though retired, consulted for former Unilever colleagues as they engaged in new endeavors, for 5 years. Two friends who worked with Jerry told him about The Villages and their golf courses. Jerry and Glenna decided to come down and visit The Villages 4 times in 4 different seasons and as they say, the rest was history! Jerry and Glenna finally made the move to The Villages in 2009.
Since moving to The Villages Jerry has been anything but retired! Jerry joined TAAC in 2010. He served as TAAC’s Treasurer for Book Booker’s presidency and the beginning of Mike Patrom’s tenure before he passed the baton. Jerry joined The Sophisticated Gents of Florida in 2013 and participated on the Friendship Golf Tournament committee for 15 years! Since 2021 Jerry has been the liaison between the Sophisticated Gents & TAAC, attending and engaged in the Executive Board Members of each.
Jerry plays golf, pickleball, and various card games. He enjoys Smooth Jazz, socializing, and most fun social activities. He has done Tai-Chi, line dancing, and has participated in Roger Barnet’s smooth jazz dance class. His priority now is serving in his church. He is the Chairman of the Elder Board; on the discipleship leadership team; and serves as an usher. and however, what Jerry enjoys is being a church Elder and usher. Outside of his church he has been involved with one-to-one discipleship, and Community Bible Study. Jerry’s vision for his life when he arrived in the Villages as he eloquently put it was “the 5F’s: Fun, Family, Friends, Fitness, and Faith,” however, as stated “I have since changed the order and put Faith as #1 and everything else has remained the same.” Jerry stated at some point he will slow down. I hope not too much as I often refer to Jerry as the savant and “the voice of reason” in any room he’s in!
