Connie originally hails first from Atlanta Ga by way of Washington DC. Like many of TAAC’s members, she comes out of the educational field and Connie found her calling in the classroom and educational administration. She excelled at teaching until her organizational abilities were recognized and she moved up to Interim Principal of Van Ness Elementary school in Washington, DC, and then simultaneously became principal of River Terrace and Smothers Elementary schools. At that point, her schools became nationally recognized as National Schools of Excellence as designated by the US Department of Education. During her tenure, in the District of Columbia Schools, she served as Principal and Assistant Superintendent to Deputy Superintendent. Based upon her reputation and leadership she was afforded the opportunity to go to England as an Exchange administrator to review the programs and curriculum in the United Kingdom. As an Exchange Administrator, she lived in the home of a UK principal in England. The same exchange was provided to the Principal from the UK who then came and lived and worked with Connie.

Connie’s career opportunities expanded to The National College Board where she served as Executive Director for the National Upward Bound program. After several years, she was invited to apply for the Superintendent position where she was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Westbury School District in New York. Due to her success and activities, she was elected President of the Nassau County Superintendent’s Association and was the first Black Superintendent to hold the position. As a result, she served on several state committees.

She and her husband, David came to the Villages in 2013 and they live in the Village of Springdale. She enjoys golf, hangs out with the Spicy Ladies, and belongs to a book club. Her hobbies include swimming, snorkeling, and reading.

After an incredibly busy career, she has earned the time that she spends snowbirding in Fort Washington, a suburb of Washington DC. And Ocean Pines Md. She has a blended family of four and two daughters-in-law. Blended family of four sons and three daughters along with several grandchildren in Maryland, Las Vegas, and Detroit.
