The spirit of the Lord goes before me making life EASY, JOYFUL AND SUCCESSFUL…..

Burma Stewart’s career began when she became the first African American employed in the general office of the Republic Steel Corporation Cleveland, Ohio as a file clerk. Being promoted throughout the corporation in various positions, she finally received a promotion as top inside sales representative where she was coined, “Miss Enthusiastic”.


Burma also has an entrepreneurial spirit. First owning a women’s clothing store, “Sophisticated Lady”, a gourmet cheesecake business, “Burma’s Cheesecakes” and “Body by Burma” a health and fitness business whereby her patrons would say…. “She fattens us up and now slims us down.”


Burma was previously certified by the International Fitness Association. She became a motivational speaker under the mentorship of Les Brown, who is an American politician and motivational speaker. He was also a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1977-1981. She became a licensed teacher of Universal Foundation for Better Living and from the teachings of the foundation, Burma became the author of the book “Spirit-Mind-Body.”


Burma was featured in Ebony Magazine as “Fabulous At Any Age” and in 2008, Cleveland Magazine identified her as one of the “Most Interesting People.”

Burma previously volunteered as a Red Coat with the Playhouse Square, Cleveland, Ohio, the AmeriCorps, Inc. where she was a reading tutor for school ageschool-age children Kindergarten thru 3rd grade, and presently as a substitute teacher for Kelly Education located in Wildwood, Florida.

Prior to her move to The Villages in June 2021, Burma lived in Columbia Station, Ohio. As the proud mother of two successful adult children, and at the advice of friends, Burma came to The Villages last year and took the Lifestyle Tour. She was amazed by all the activities, restaurants, and overall friendly people. Thus, in

June 2021, she made her move and she can now say… “I am an official Villager”.


Burma is currently a member of TAAC, The Villages Singles Club, The Villages Writing Club, and started a club of her own titled “Becoming Aware Living Life Stress Free”. Her activities and special interests include playing Bocce, dancing at the squares, and exercising for total fitness just to name a few.


Burma’s vision for her life while living in The Villages is to live her life and work with others to help them build their potential to their fullest.
